ARE YOU ATTRACTED TO DRAMA?
Do you notice that once you do something, the charge of the mystery of it all just… goes away?
All the excitement and heightened emotions go away?
Once you do it, it’s kind of like… what's the big deal?
It's almost like you take some pleasure in all the heightened emotion around it.
It's almost like there's something exciting about all the drama behind it.
And then once you find the courage to do the thing… There's no drama.
And so it just deflates.
Like finally putting that really raw, exposed post on instagram.
So exposed and raw and real, it’s like you’re telling The Big Secret about yourself.
And afterwards you realize nothing about you has changed.
So where does the excitement come from now?
That’s why there's some type of appeal in the drama. It's like that tension within yourself.
You get yourself all tangled up by it and distracted by it.
There must be something about it that you like because you get real involved in that part of it.
But once you do it, it’s like shoulder-shrug, on to the next.
It's almost like you expect some type of really heightened emotional experience afterwards because the beforehand is so intense. You expect the payoff to be really great.
So if you could somehow take away the drama then you would really just be focusing on the work. The thing. The process. And this is such a better place to create from because it’s grounded and resilient. What’s appealing about the drama to you? Are you ready to let it go?
